Today 15th July, 2010 is special for all Bruneians as it is the birthday of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, our beloved King. Many people, including us the students of Sufri Bolkiah Secondary, were for these past few weeks in full gear busy with preparing for the royal celebration, from beautifying the roads to hoisting the nation’s flags to doing rehearsals for the big day. When you work and live in a prosperous and peaceful country, who have seen nothing but every attention given to ease your life’s burdens and obstacles, whether it is housing, education or medical care, you cannot help but feel particularly grateful to the one who has made it all possible. In a world full of wars, hatred, tensions and extreme poverty, we are indeed blessed by His Majesty’s wise leadership whose caring policies ensure access without borders to opportunities for all ‘rakyat’ to better themselves, whatever their backgrounds may be.
